Start where you are. Use what you have. Do what you can.

Three books to invest in that will invest in you.

Three books to invest in that will invest in you.

I am not a self-help book kind of person. At all. But I am a self-development kind of person. When it comes to growing professionally or personally, I like to read and learn all that I can. That being said, I want to share three books with you that have enriched my life and helped me to be a more intentional person at work, in my relationships, and in my life.

#1: The Best Yes, Lysa TerKeurst

“Whenever you say yes to something, there is less of you for something else. Make sure your yes is worth the less.” – Lysa TerKeurst

In The Best Yes, Lysa challenges us to prioritize our commitments. Her book is a great reminder that if we are feeling like there isn’t enough of us to go around, it’s probably because we’ve overcommitted ourselves. The Best Yes helped me to rethink my priorities and curb my need to always say “yes” to every demand.

#2: Developing the Leader Within You, John C. Maxwell

“Change is inevitable. Growth is optional.” – John C. Maxwell

In his book, Developing the Leader Within You, New York Times bestselling author John C. Maxwell outlines some of the most important qualities to develop if you want to be a great leader. Whether you are a CEO, a manager, an employee, or an entrepreneur, Developing the Leader Within You is a great way to take inventory and learn new ways to grow and improve your leadership skills.

#3: Financial Peace, Dave Ramsey

“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” – Dave Ramsey

Financial Peace is an easy-to-understand guide to help you prioritize your finances. Dave Ramsey, American businessman, author, and founder of Dave Ramsey Solutions, outlines how being more intentional with our finances can lead to financial security, freedom, and ultimately, peace. Financial Peace is full of practical tools that can help jumpstart you into a more intentional financial lifestyle.

One of the easiest things you can do is start investing in yourself. If you’ve been wanting to learn a new skill or just become a better leader, the world is full of resources.

Take some time to think about simple ways you can begin investing in yourself right now. If these books don’t appeal to you, a quick internet search will give you hundreds to choose from! There are also plenty of free podcasts, webinars, and other resources to help you. What books or other resources have you found helpful in developing yourself? Let us know in the comments below!
