This one thing will always keep you from achieving your dreams.
As I sit on my couch in my apartment, there are three devices within 5 feet of me that are connected to almost anything I could possibly need. The world is literally at my fingertips. If I have a question, I can Google it. If I need a planner, or an alarm clock, or a coloring book - I can literally download it in seconds, for free. In many ways, we are blessed to be so conveniently connected. And yet, I can't help feeling that there's a catch.
It's easy for our minds to get trapped in the time loop of convenience. Our human nature dictates that without a conscious effort, we will always take the path of least resistance. So easily our homes devolve into a place that drains rather than inspires and refreshes. It seems as though the more we have within reach, the harder it is for our minds to grasp those things which we truly want to take precedence in our lives.
What remedy do we have for an overstimulated soul?
Don't worry - this is not where I tell you to "unplug" or tout the evils of social media. This is where I challenge you to do the one important thing you put off every day because it's easier to binge watch Netflix or endlessly scroll your Facebook feed.
What is that thing for you? Maybe there are many things that never find space in your life. You will never find more time. We all only have twenty-four hours in a day, three hundred sixty-five days in a year, and none of us knows how many years we will get. It will never be any easier than it is right now. So whatever that thing is, start it. In the midst of all the bells and whistles at your fingertips, make time.
Resolve to make time for what matters, be consistent, and don't give up, even when you fail - and you will fail - and see what happens. I dare you.
